Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 12β9:30 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach The Chow Mein Guy (Little Tokyo) at (424) 542-9423; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.
Customers rate it 4.4 out of 5 on Google across 33 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded chinese noodles in Los Angeles.
Los Angeles is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Los Angeles is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I was super excited to try this place out. I ordered two plates one with chicken and beef and one with just bandit chicken. It was very disappointing for the price of the plates I didnβt get a soup as they were temporarily out of stock. The wait was a good 30 min I wanted or order something else but I had already been waiting for a while. The noodles were bland. Straight up had to put any type of sauce that I had in my fridge to coat the noodles. The chicken portion was also disappointing. I wanted to love this place. I hope they get it together because the food has so much potential.

Chow Mein was delicious and only $7, totally worth it, and the portion they gave was great. Came out quick and was really yummy.

I absolutely love this place! The chow mein is without a doubt, the best I've ever had. The portions are huge, the prices are unbeatable, and the flavor is seriously addictive. I often go 6 miles just to pick it up, and it's worth every trip. I highly recommend it if you're craving something delicious and filling!

My husband and I were walking around Little Tokyo and we weren't inspired by the Japanese restaurants around. We stumbled upon this food truck with affordable chow mein. Not expecting much from street food, we ordered the red oil chicken chow mein. Golly, it hit the spot on a cold night! The bouncy noodles were not overly spicy but it still had a good kick. The scallions were generous and the chicken chunks were tender. We were satisfied from that one serving which was able to feed two for USD 12!

Holy hell this place has gone down hill I used to get takeout here a lot back in 2022 and early 2023 Firstly, I ordered the Tom Yum shrimp chow mein (it has a different name now) Itβs terrible. I donβt taste much of the Tom yum. Back then, this was amazing and packed full of flavour. The noodles were also too broken up and tasted bland. I swear I remember actually tasting some wok hey in it before. It also came out really fast which makes me suspicious that this was kinda premade. Idk what happened to your process. But it has become very disappointing. Do better.
